A smile is beautiful

In my attempt to write anything poetic… I was bored over lunch and decided:

Step 1: Pick a word of something about you or that which you love doing

Step 2: Write something about it…more like a poem’ish

Step 3: Post it no matter how lame it sounds…lol

PS: This was the result.

Smile, because you have every reason to,

You have been given life and life in abundance

It’s a way of appreciating it without trying too much

It doesn’t cost a thing to smile.

Even if you’re going through turmoil,

There is probably someone going through worse than you are

Smile and show them that everything is going to be okay

With God nothing is impossible; all you have to do is believe.

A smile is natural, it’s fulfilling and beautiful

It brings out the beauty in a person

It reveals a part of you, which otherwise we wouldn’t know

It makes you look worthy, trustable and honest

For what more would a stranger want from you besides a warm hearty smile?

Saying you’re welcome to be a friend

Or a friend, saying I am always there for you.

A smile means much more than meets the eye

It has its meaning in-depth,

But the bottom line is, a smile is beautiful.

TGIF *Fake’ish*

Thank God It’s Friday:

The week has flown… Okay, maybe the five days in a week are not that long. But thing is I didn’t even realize today is Friday…the way I should. haha I know you’re wondering how. Well by Friday you should be tired of the week, and things should’ve happened that just make you want to go into the weekend mode. I feel like someone will tell me today is Tuesday..lol

I’m Feeling

Happy, content and VERY thankful to God, there’s no complaints.

I’m Excited

It’s not an excitement per se, but I need to start looking for a house. I’ve been saying this since for ever, but the time is passing and it’s about time now. So I start tarmacking for a house…and do I have to use agents…ai!

Help? South C, Langata…somewhere next to Mombasa Road or Langata Road.

Woi, it’s at this point when I see leaving my parents nest is gonna be quite a challenge, but let me try, if things are too thick, my room will always be there…hehe

Theme Song of the Week

Us Against The World – Christian Milian {whooa her songs in general are too awzuuum *awesome* you’ve gotta see the lyrics for this one in particular, I love!}

I’m Craving

Some serious Retail Therapy Soonest! I don’t know what I want exactly, but yeah that’s not the point!

I want and I wish

That what I’m praying for and wishing for comes to be. I can’t say it, I was told if you say wishes they don’t come true…it’s my child myth, so immediately it happens I’m gonna say #deal …that’s positivity at it’s best.

I pray

That God guides and protects me and my loved ones and makes of me a shinning lamp and a brilliant star *wink*

Days that you hate

I’m the only one who experiences instances of hate { hate is a strong word, would have used a better name like dislike, but hate best describes the feeling at that particular time} on somethings or some people. The feeling will last for as long as the event takes place and disappears immediately after that.

I bet if you have, you’ll understand what I’m talking about. It’s those things people do for for a minute or more and they make you want to practically pull off their hair or given the opportunity you would just kick their ass or give them a piece of your mind.

So there day’s that I just hate:

Matatu Conductors and Drivers

You walk to the stage in the morning, and the conductor comes convinces you to take the matatu to a particular destination which is where you are headed anyway. And you even re-confirm, and at the moments he’s the sweetest person…he even calls you beautiful, then three-quarter way to your destination, he decideds ya’ll now have to alight and walk to the destination stage because there are traffic cops ahead? WTH!!! And he does not the least care. Those are the times you wish you had a police-mans no. on speed dial. or you could just hold him by the collar and give him a piece of your *not so amused* mind.

Boring Radio Presenters

You’ve entered the matatu expecting to be entertained only for the station on air have some lifeless presenters…aaarrrggghh and you are going to be stuck in traffic for like 30mins listening to someone sound disgusting in discussions no offense but who puts Nick Odhiambo or even Ciku Muiruri on the classic FM breakfast show (oh, it’s the station played by nearly all matatu’s)…YUCK! he just says disgusting things in a more disgusting way.

KPLC

You go home anticipating to watch a good movie, after foregoing all the plans with your friends. Only for KPLC to decide electricity is a luxury for you. Times you wish you just knew just one employee of kplc who manages switches…but I can bet they never disclose their job…because the number of people cursing him and wanting his throat..I can only imagine.

Police Men

What is with policemen and matatus, the day you are late to work is when they decide…we are going to do an operation. I know policemen are here to maintain peace and order, but surely to the point of scaring off public transport.

Subordinates

Watchmen, waiters, shop attendants, drivers, conductors – This guys can spoil your day I tell you. They can turn such a simple thing into a complicated thing, actually complicated is an understatement, they always make it look like you are the bad one. I have learnt in the worst way – never try to reason out with them because you are the one who’ll end up looking like a fool.

Big word users

Ever come across this guys who talk to you but their main attempt is to make you look stupid. They will use complex words and statement and for sure you’ll look stupid, because you won’t get a thing they’ve said. Arrrgggh I can’t stand such, they make me soooo irritated.

Oh just found out this guys are called — “sesquipedalian”

Funny Babaric Behaviors

I experienced this once I had visited some restaurant, I think it’s called café pronto and City star… whereby first the food that’s brought is “mchanganiko maalum”i.e the contents of the plate of food are really mixed up, and the group of I think Somali guys are eating together as they talk. Now the part I hated is where, as they first of all eat with their hands and the food is flying everywhere, they are basically chewing with the mouth wide open…eeeewwww!

I could barely swallow my food at the view…me who loves eating, was satisfied and disgusted at the second bite. Then comes the part for washing your hands and the dude decides he’s washing his mouth and face on the sink…and all the contents of his mouth are splattered on the sink…. Oh Myyy Goooosh tha was just it. YUCK!!! I went back so irritated, disgusted and at that particular moment I hated Somali restaurants and the people. Though I still find myself in them seeing as they have occupied nearly all the restaurants in the CBD.

Random dude trying to vibe you

A dude decides he’s going to start asking you weird lame questions in the matatu. Please, unless you have something concrete you want to ask, just shut up, and NO i’m not being mean I’m just being realistic. For instance an escapade:

Dude: Hey, what’s your name? I’m XXXX

Kawi: Oh hi, uuuuum *thinks about it *I’m *fake name*

Dude: So are you in campus?

Kawi: No

Dude: You leave in Kenya Institute of Administration…Is it an Institute or a hostel

Kawi: *honestly I’m not mean, but that was the closing point of that conversation, if there was any* I’m not in the mood of talking right now.

Dude: Ok. So can I have your number.

Kawi: *Serious look, and I continued reading my novel*

If the dude pulled a smarter move, I would’ve probably engaged in a conversation. But it’s just not right to talk to every other girl especially if you have nothing to say, just hold your horses, let them out when it’s necessary. It’s not amusing to be mean to someone…lol

Just One Small Step

Oh well today, I feel somewhat inspired. Nothing extraordinary has happened per se. Okay, actually the fact that I woke up in the morning and am alive and healthy is quite more than extraordinary. How God does that, only he knows *Looks up and says thanks to God*

So, as I’m seated on my desk trying to look like the busy and serious girl I am and im not blowing my trumpet, this is what tried to cross my mind but stagnated for a bit. So just before it disappears let me put it across.

Just like the pooch is that what they are called nowadays lol , no matter how small our first step is, it’s better than just standing there and waiting for a miracle to happen. That small step could be the move to your destiny.

Life has so many challenges, and it’s up to you to shove them and show them that “YOU GOT THIS!” you know what I’m saying. Don’t be the kind that gives up easily. I know it’s easier said than done, but we are too blessed to just let our lives just get wasted just like that. I bet with that in mind, it’s easier done too…hehe

Use all the available resources…especially people. That statement “Everyone has a purpose as to why they were created” … means that no one is useless…similar to every block in a puzzle is necessary to complete it.

The world is a puzzle..and we are the blocks required to make it complete.

Another thing is never give up. Many are times, when life is so hard that people tend to give up on their dreams and lives. Just live it, as long as God wants you alive ‘Dude you’ve got some work you’ve got to be doing instead of laying there worried or feeling helpless’. Dream on and do whatever it is that you can do to the best of your ability.

This life is really tricky, is one thing I’ve gotten to learn much through observation and indirect experience.

Never look down on anyone unless you are helping them out or you are taller than them.

Nothing is permanent, the world is our temporary home. — Oh yah even our troubles

So anytime you going to look down on someone because you think you are more beautiful than they are, or you are more wealthy, or you are way cooler, think twice because nothing is permanent, all this things come and go. We are just blessed by God and like Job, everything can go and what is you’re left with is character and personality to take you through or if worst comes to worst none of it.

In short, encourage one another. I like this quote because I can associate with it,  “Flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you. Ignore me, and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will not forget you. Love me and I may be forced to love you.” ~~~ William Arthur Ward

Okay this post was soooo random….lol, so I have nothing much to say, I believe i’ve passed a message today.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

WHAT WOULD YOU ATTEMPT TO DO IF YOU KNEW YOU COULD NOT FAIL?

Think about it, as I also think about it. After you figure out what it is, start on it ASAP because who said you’re gonna fail? Just take that one small step, you’ll be shocked where it takes you.

What defines a woman?

With reference to this post:  Every Womans Desire : It’s an Excerpt from the book ”Captivating – Unveiling the mystery of a Womans Soul” by John and Stasi Eldredge which my mum had gotten for me as a birthday gift. Well somethings like this come in handy in life because as it is this books has helped understand some things about women.

So here goes, “What defines a woman?” This is the most difficult topic. Even us women don’t really know. But anyway, according afore-mentioned book, “Most women define themselves in terms of their relationships, and the quality they deem those relationships to have.”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but honestly speaking. Just take a rough look at all the women in your life…this is for both men and women to  do. Ever since I read that book, I’ve always tried to prove this point wrong (the last 8 months). To say that they did their analysis wrong. That a woman cannot just be defined by relationships, emotions and so on. I mean!!! You know, I also did not get it  at that point.

Now  I totally understand. Have a look at this women:

A woman who is educated and so learned, they’ve done their degrees, masters and maybe even PH’d

A woman who is living on the 1st lane – she’s probably a C.E.O or Manager of some big corporation

A woman who works to earn a living i.e it could be any level of work.

A stay at home woman, *desperate housewives kinda woman*

A woman who is still a student

A woman who is popular among peers, could classify her as a Celebrity

A woman who has aged and now is reliving her life with grandchildren

I was just trying to classify the different kind of women we would find in our society. I am   pretty sure we all have a female friend who falls under this categories or many others that I haven’t mentioned. Ever asked them “Hey, How are you doing?”

Women are not like men, when you ask a woman “Hey, how are you doing?” Her first, very first instinct or thought will be emotional  again correct me if im wrong. She will say how she is based on her emotions, is she happy, is she in love, is she sad and depressed….unlike a Man, when you ask him, “wassup dude, how are you doing?”His very first instinct is material…in terms of his business is it doing well, is he making money, is he getting publicity he needs.

This is quite interesting, when I actually realised it. Do you know a woman could have prospered in everything she is doing but if her relationships are a fail then everything she’s worked for really loses it’s mean.

I woman’s pride is the success of  her relationships with the spouse, friends and children. That’s why women have so much drama and they eventually make up with the person they had issues with. And if the relationship is sore it will be the most depressing thing. That’s one of the reasons that would make a woman cry or feel that she’s not worth it.

It’s said that you can get a woman all the material things in the world, yes women like material things, dresses shoes, perfume, handbags, cars but show them no love then you have practically done nothing. They cancel out.

Why do you think a woman will work on their appearance for hours? Why a woman would stand by her loved ones no matter the circumstance *ride or die*? Why a woman would be easily conned by some ruthless con man using some emotional game, Why a woman would cry while watching a sad or mushy movie?

And the King, is “Why all the movies or programs that target women all have relationships/marriages in it?

Ever seen a group of women sitting together, when you come close, what is the main topic of discussion? Even when they are gossiping what do the gossip about. It’s always on RELATIONSHIPS….it could be boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, Mother/Child, Clande/Clandestine….Even when the Agenda is Business Oriented, I womans first thought is her relationship.

This makes men and women very different. Sometimes men would except the woman to be the pillar of strength… women are strong and can handle anything that comes their way…I’ve witnessed that, but they are much better and stronger when their relationships are on check.

There’s a quote I like to hate, it sounds a bit cold but it’s so true.

Anyway, I think now that men know that a woman is defined by her relationships maybe that could be a starting point of “Understanding Women”. I know it’s not the easiest role but I think just as a man invests in his business and analyses the environment *SWOT*, so can he invest in the emotional side of a woman too. And make her world worth living. Not necessarily just for spouces…I mean friends too…or even children to your mothers.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

That’s just spot on! I shall not add nor deduct.

Sneak Into *Tyler Perry*

So my curiosity has driven me to looking into an actor’s life. *Drum Rolls* TYLER PERRY!

Reference: Wikipedia

Tyler Perry (born Emmitt Perry, Jr. September 13, 1969) is an American actor, director, playwright, screenwriter, producer, and author. Already a successful artist in Southern theatre, Perry began to make national celebrity status in 2005 with the release of his first movie, Diary of a Mad Black Woman. In 2009, Perry was ranked by Forbes magazine as the sixth highest-paid man in Hollywood. As of July 2009, Perry’s films had grossed nearly $400 million worldwide.

{Yikes, dude was in Forbes Magazine….wololo. Clearly he never has to sing “I wanna be a billionaire so freaking bad ~ Travie McCoy ft Bruno Mars” Especially the part that says “I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine.Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen”—>>>Oh yah, he’s Oprah’s very good friend, now maybe unless the Queen who i’m pretty sure watches his movies. Life is sooo fair….lol}

I mean I don’t do this everyday. But in this case I’m an avid  fun of all the movies Tyler Perry has Directed, Produced, Written and Acted. Basically I love the whole drama and how he actually takes up the situations that happen in real life and does a book or movie in that.

It’s one of those you-just-can’t-hate movies. As much as all the movies have the same theme : Dysfunctional families, forgiveness, cheating spouses, domestic violence, poverty and wealth, Parenting, Self worth, Unselfishness….I bet most of you have probably watched at least one Tyler Perry Movie. I can also bet that you have repeated them over and over…it’s alright it’s allowed…hehe.

I TOTALLY love his cross-dressing creation MADEA…that’s his identity. And I always want to hear what she has to say. The funniest was the botched Bible stories monologue in “I can do bad all by myself”- Here’s the conversation {You’ve gotta read it}

Jennifer: My Grandma Rose used to tell us to pray about things like this.
Madea: Then that’s what you ought to do, pray about it, talk to the Lord about it. He’ll help you.
Jennifer: Yeah but she only told us to pray. She never told us how. Would you teach me?
Madea: Huh?
Jennifer: Please!
Madea: Show you how to pray?
Jennifer: Yeah.
Madea: Oh, Lord, child, I ain’t talked to God since the last time I saw a cop in my rearview mirror. I guess I can try. You know the number?
Jennifer: The what?
Madea: The number. To call him. They say, “Jesus On the Mainline.” I don’t know the number. Okay, sit back. Bow your head. First, giving honor to God, to the head of my life.
[sings]
Madea: Father, I stretch my hand… to thee. Father God. God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God of Shadrach, Meshach and the billy goat, who was in the fiery furnace that they barbecued on the day of Pentecost when the Jewish people returned from the Sabbath day up on the mountaintop in Ethiopia. God of Mary J. Blige…
Jennifer: Madea, that doesn’t sound right. That’s not how Mama Rose used to do it.
Madea: You ain’t feel it? You ain’t feel the anointing?
Jennifer: No.
Madea: Alright. Well, look, I don’t know nothing about praying. But all praying is is talking to God and having a conversation with him. And at the end, you say the name of Jesus. That’s your stamp that will get it up there to him. You hear?
Jennifer: Okay.

Madea: You know who you remind me of right now? You remind me of Peter. You know who Peter was? Peter was one of the twelve disciplines. And they were out on a boat near an isle in the Greek Atlantic Ocean. And when they was on this boat, a storm rose up and the twelve disciplines, they got really, really worried and upset. They said, “Oh Lord, what are we gonna do?” and they saw something coming towards them that looked like a ghost. But it wasn’t a ghost. It was Jesus. And Peter said, “Jesus, if that’s you then let me come out to you.” You gotta be careful what you ask the Lord for. So Jesus said, “Come on out.” So Peter stepped out of the boat and was walking on the water.
Jennifer: He was walking on water?
Madea: On the water. He was walking on the water toward Jesus. Long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he stayed on top of the water. He took his eyes off him though. You know why? He got distracted. You know why he got distracted? See, this is what you got to do. When you got your eye on Jesus, you can’t get distracted by nothing. Jonah passed by in the belly of the whale. He looked down, Free Willy, with Jonah inside the belly and it made him distracted so he started to sink. He said, “Jesus, Jesus, help me.” Jesus said, “I can’t. I got to go to Calvary. I’m late.” So Jesus went on to the cross. He said, “Don’t worry though. I’m gonna send you a comforter. When the comforter come, you gonna be alright.” So he’s swimming. He try and swim. He was worried. And Jaws was coming. Spielberg did that Jaws thing. And he was surrounded. You know what happened?
Jennifer: What?
Madea: Just in the nick of time… See this is what I’m talking about, when you think you ain’t gonna make it, in the nick of time, something happens. Noah came up in the arch. That’s right, Noah came rowing up in the arch of St. Louis Arch. He pulled right up beside him. Peter got on there, he said, “Thank you for saving me.” Noah said, “No problem, man. It’s cool. What up, fool?” So he showed him around. Noah had turned the arch into a cruise ship cause he ain’t have nothing to do after he saved the world. Hey, you know who was on there? Eve.
Jennifer: Eve?
Madea: She was in the VIP section. And Peter asked, he said, “Eve, come on, go to the show.” So she went to see this show. They had tigers. You know, they had two tigers, two bears, two lions. You know how they had the male and the female. Well, Siegfried and Roy was there, and they had the two lions there. And them Lions jumped up and scratched Eve. That’s how Eve get them two paws there. You ever see Eve with the paws? She got two paws right there. Read your Bible some time, honey. Read your Bible.

{As in this was the funniest and I mean FUNNIEST ish ever, like *Roll On The Floor*DEAD* Kinda funny.} How the hell did Tyler come up with that. That’s ingenius…it’s funny is all im saying.

So yesterday as I was watching another one of his movies called “Something New”. Some funny thought just crossed my mind. And it got me wondering whether Tyler Perry  is married, if he  has children. You know the whole family set up. I’m not the kind of person who knows who’s dating who in the celebrity scene unless of course it’s the usual Jay-Z, Kanye, Will Smith whose lives are always splattered everywhere.

But I’ve never heard vibes about this guy ‘Tyler Perry’ and his personal life. So as my imaginations runs wild….I actually was thinking he’s married to some hot chiq, with kids jumping here, there and everywhere. Until I wiki’d.

As of 2010, Perry remains unmarried. He lives and works in Southwest Atlanta where he operates the Tyler Perry movies and TV studios. Perry professes to be a devout Christian. He has become good friends with Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith and Janet Jackson.

{Like seriously, I didn’t think so. I was expecting him to have a wife…more like Will Smith and Jada pinkett and not Oprah Winfrey and her dogs.}

Here is a listing of some of his movies:

  • I Know I’ve Been Changed (1998)
  • I Can Do Bad All By Myself (1999)
  • Diary of a Mad Black Woman (2001)
  • Madea’s Family Reunion (2001)
  • Madea’s Class Reunion (2003)
  • Why Did I Get Married? (2004)
  • Why Did I  get Married Too?
  • Meet the Browns (2004–2005)
  • Madea Goes to Jail (2005–2006)
  • What’s Done in the Dark (2006–2007)
  • The Marriage Counselor (2008–2009)
  • Laugh to Keep from Crying (2009–2010)
  • Madea’s Big Happy Family (2010)

As usual any succesful person has got haters and critics. So Tyler Perry has one. According to Wikipedia, which is the only source I could get credible data on him as I didn’t have much time for research…*It’s Never That Serious*

CRITIQUES

In September 2009, Jamilah Lemieux while thanking Perry for employing blacks in front of and behind the camera and for making work with humor and “positive messages about self-worth, love and respect,” she criticized him for making television shows “marked by old stereotypes of buffoonish, emasculated black men and crass, sassy black women.”

{Oh well, that’s what makes it kinda FUNNY and FUN to watch.}

She took him to task for his character of Madea saying that through this, “the country has laughed at one of the most important members of the black community: Mother Dear, the beloved matriarch. …Our mothers and grandmothers deserve much more than that.”

{Nooo Madea cannot be removed, she adds some sppice to the movies}

” She stated that blacks “have been fed the same images of ourselves over and over and over because they sell.” She felt that his success had been “mired with the worst black pathologies and stereotypes” and called on him to “stop dismissing the critics as haters and realize that black people need new stories and new storytellers.”

{Oh well, Now this is partly kinda true. But I think with the latest movie “Something New” he’s actually bringing forth something different, but anyway i’m one of the billions of people who enjoy watching his movies…critique or no critique}

Anyhow I think he’s movies no matter how repeateee they are, hey are always a breath of fresh air…ANd at the end of every movie I always get to learn something on the various aspects of life. I can repeat his movies coz they are supper funny. If you haven’t watched any of his movies..Try out just one…you’ll find yourself searching for the rest. But people have different preferences anyway.

{Basically, DON’T MESS!}

TGIF *Wheeeeee*

Yes literally… That’s what I’m feeling. If I could get access to a roller coaster right about now, that would just top it up!

Okay it’s been two Friday’s back since I did a TGIF… I always want to find some time to do it, but I was always overcome by events. And the day just passes like that. #Fail

Overview of the last two weeks:

I was on study leave for two weeks, because I was doing my final exams at KIM *Whoop Whoop*, and I am DONE! Had evening  classes on awkward days like Thursday and Friday… just when everyone wants to meet, Kawi has to either cancel the meet-up or skive a class…so you can imagine which one out-rode the other. I hope you weren’t expecting me to answer that question.

Well between the days for my exams I got two surprise calls. Yup Yup! It’s not everyday I’m called for an interview. So miss.lucky here was called for two. One was like two weeks ago. Got through it, though it’s not what I was expecting or rather the package was not good/better than what I have already. So I passed the opportunity *days you pray you made the right choice/decision*. The second one happened this week, I believe went okay, but am being hopeful while at the same time partially expecting the worst in case it doesn’t go through. Though this has given me psyche now…at least I know I’m capable.

I’m happy happy happy and thankful for my life as it is although I have many prayers for better things and working to the best of my ability to ensure they get better.

“I do believe in the saying “God helps those who help themselves”

Basically, the two weeks as much as I was having exams, it was sort of an indirect break because now I’m freshest. Realized the importance of team work, because truth be told, I never at any one time got stressed about any exam because I was doing group discussions. Thank God for people, they help you at your weak point and you also help them with their weak points and at the end of it ya’ll are knowledgeable and successful.

So Thank God It’s Friday:

Hasn’t the week just flown by. As in September is about to end. Reminds me of the song “Wake me up when September ends – Green day” although in my case I want to be awake through it, because it’s one hell-of-a lovely month.

I’m Feeling

Content and Super thankful to God for everything. That’s me the past few weeks. Like I have every reason to smile. I mean if I look around and scope the blessings I have just around me – There’s this warm feeling I have. Yeah Basically!

I’m Excited

About going to visit my baby sister *Clara* with my O&O! She’ll be amazed. I’ve actually never gone to her school before so I bet this is gonna be exciting. Especially the fact that it’s academic day. I’ll be acting mum…and I have the freedom to pull a “What happened to your results in Chemistry and Kiswahili, You need to pull up your socks. No T.V during holiday” haha *DEAD*

Theme Song of the Week

I’m that *chiq flicky* girl sometimes…okay all the time and one of the ones in my list of watched is “Camp Rock” and I loved the Theme Song “This Is  Real This is me”- Demi Lovato & Joe Jonas ~~~ Hapo wamenena

I’m Craving

Haiya, I don’t have any craves as I write…I have satisfied most of them. This is a rare occurrence. Though I wouldn’t mind some Grilled Chicken coming my way…YUMM!

I want and I wish

For them to get back to me…being anxious ain’t sooo cool. You Know What I Mean! To get a nice house at a nice place now that I have to move from “under my parents wings”home at some point sooner or later.

I pray

For God to grant me the Serenity to accept things that I cannot change, the Courage to change things I can and the Wisdom to know the difference.

This is what makes me hopeful about prayers:

Project *life* Planning

It’s while I was in one of my stray thoughts that I happened to land on this one. Well, I am into project management and all so basically I have gotten to learn and read a lot with regards to managing projects. And it’s different phases, there’s one called “Project Planning”…among all the 5 phases it has, ok depending on the structure you use, this is my most favorite phase.

Basically, the above are the components of project planning.  So being me as usual, I shall redirect my discussion to LIFE!

Have you ever realized that life is actually like a project. It has all the qualities of a project.

It’s time bound – I mean it has a start (birth) and an end(death).

It’s Unique – No two life’s are the same. They’re totally different.

It changes – different aspects of our life keep changing at different times

It has defined outcomes –  life has various defined outcomes based on our inputs.

It’s a one-off event – We live life once.

So the reason I like project planning with relation to life, is that “Life just doesn’t happen. Okay well sometimes it does” contradictory statement. From the time one was born, you’re parent’s planned for you some even from conception, even the society does. Ever wondered why women’s pregnancies are divided into trimesters and why they have to visit ante-natal and post-natal clinics, this is because a plan has been developed whereby the woman is given a schedule of time and costs as well as other resources.

Once a life begins *birth*,  you realise that mostly everything has been planned for you. Actually you are like a project team member, then *The Folks* are the Project Managers. The most basic example is 8.4.4 that’s more in the education sector, then there’s character and personality, whereby you are taken to parties, visiting friends ad relatives and so on.

There are quite a couple of assumptions made in your life because you cannot plan every aspect of it…i mean you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, also there a couple of restrictions it could come from within or from an exterbal body (parents, laws&regulations and so on)

Somewhere in the middle of your life the people who used to plan for you, those project managers in your life *The Folks* have to now retire, while now you are elevated from a project team member of your own project life to a project manager. I mean now it’s all in your hands. You are the one allocating resources, scheduling and budgeting for your own life.

Your plan is the one that defines your outcome. If you have poor plans then that means that the execution will bear results that are of poor quality as well.

Like seriously, a couple of times i’ve realised that if you don’t plan your life … Then you end up settling for less than what you actually deserve. In that most of the time people tend to jump into the design and implementation stage before planning and that’s why most of the time we turn out with raw deals or outcomes that doesn’t match what we had envisioned in the design.

Very simple things in life require planning: Relationships, Career, Family. Yeah Yeah, you probably thinking i’m taking it too far. I can bet most of you have ever come across something called goals. At the planning stage one should actually formulate goals. Which is what you want and what you want to achieve at the end of it all…they are more like requirements or specifications.

The goals/specifications/requirements one makes should always be SMART:

  • Specific – Straight to the point
  • Measurable – can be quantified applies for both tangible and intangible i.e in terms of worth, value, satisfaction, quality
  • Attainable – something that’s within your ability to do
  • Realistic – Don’t build castles in the air!
  • Time-bound – have durations. For example New Year resolutions, 5yr’s, 10yrs.

Once everything is planned accordingly and it makes sense, then implementation will be a success. For example if you are looking for a job, mingling for a spouse, starting a family…hehe. Sometimes planning is the best way to define what exactly you want, and after that you will only have an eye for that which you  have envisioned. Of course it doesn’t take a day or two to be able to carry out a plan.

Just like a flower doesn’t grow in a day, you know what I’m saying just be patient and it will blossom into something beautiful. There’s a quote that goes like — “All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today”

In conclusion, a goal without a plan is just but a mere wish. You need to figure out how you want to achieve that goal. And then act on it.

PS: You can’t plant a tomato and expect to harvest a pumpkin #justsaying or even plant that tomato seed and expect it to grow into healthy tomatoes without giving it water, right temperature, manure and so on.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

This comes from one of my favorite bible verses Jeremiah 29:11

Others:

“When planning for a year, plant corn. When planning for a decade, plant trees. When planning for life, train and educate people.”

“It pays to plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark.”

Back From My Hiatus *Exams*

Okay it’s been a minute since I blogged thanks to having something they call Exams…like seriously, I think the person who came up with Education, Exams was just a sadist who wanted to see people suffer studying and trying to cram or remember what they’ve learned.

Have you ever though of exams as this evil thing or monster, that is looking at you as you gnash your teeth, jog your memory and chew your biro pen cap…it’s just having that evil grin…saying “Let that paper butcher her”

While you on the other hand want to run away for your dear life or, just scream off the exam room when they bring you some awkward questions that your lecturer has never even mentioned.

Lemmi get all educational as one of my lecturers said that exams are actually a very good thing #YeahRight that its a way of monitoring and evaluating the course and the lecturer so as to know if the school has actually met it’s goals. If throughout the semester the lecturer was actually doing his work and imparting knowledge to the students…as a result the exam is a form of assessment of the quality of work.

I know you are thinking what the hell has gotten into this girl…lol, well my mind has been literally in books and more books but it’s about time I know gave myself a break. *YaaaY* as in I’m actually done with my post-graduate okay except a pending project which is not an issue at least it’s not an exam, my masters will now take a hold…I need to enjoy life outside books.

Oh yesterday I had my lucky stars shinning on me….So i’m just praying the best opportunity pops itself up… because some of them are tricky tricky. God Help! That’s a story for another day….so at least you’ll have something to look forward to :p

So I came across this *Haki Yetu*Poster and it actually does make sense…The only thing remaining..is some activists from the public universities running down the streets uttering this sentiments:

Also the “Green Belt Movement” could use this…hehe seeing as we are conserving the environment. HEHE!

HAVE A LOVELY EVENING Y’LL. Feels nice to be back from my hiatus.

Mr.Mechanic *Guest Poem*

I request you to trust me enough to bring your car to my workshop

I promise to take good care of it and to give it a complete and thorough tune-up

I know you have taken it to other mechanics that disappointed you

But I’m different and very good at what I do

I will pull all the stops and my effort will be 100%

I’m not claiming to be faultless but I have an eye for detail

And I won’t stop until the job is done, to near perfection

I’ve worked on your type of car before and I promise to handle it the right way

Am certain I won’t disappoint and the results will blow your mind

Just trust me.
